Everest base camp trek is one of the most adventurous and famous challenging trek in Khumbu, Nepal. The Everest region (Khumbu) is one of the most popular destinations for tourists. The climbers (trekkers) from Lukla they trek upward to Sherpa capital Namche Bazaar (3440metres) following the Dudh Koshi River. Before another rest for acclimatization they then travel another two days to Dingboche (4260metres). Another two days take them reach to Everest Base Camp through Gorakshep, the flat field below Kalapatthar (5545 meters). . You must be physically fit and healthy: If you are planning to trek Everest Base Camp, the most important factor is good health. If you have any kind of disease or you are heart patient then you mustn’t think of trekking because as you have to climb high and have to walk more you may get life threatening problem. So better avoid it and instead enjoy the lower camp up to your ease.
. When to go: The best season for trekking are dry and warm seasons, March-June and September-November. During these times the climate and temperature is suitable and clear for better experience.
. Necessary Gears and Essentials: The main required essential gears are comfortable hiking boots, sleeping bags, and few changes of clothes for changeable temperatures. For cold weather, hiking pants, thermals, gloves, a warm inner jacket and a windproof / waterproof jacket are essential. Likewise, some other necessary equipment is hiking stick, waterproof cases, bandages, a headlamps, water purification supplies and cameras.
. Experiences: For trekking peaks, summiting and climbing a mountain of 5,650-6,500meters, it is important to have some climbing experience. Few experiences and habituate of climbing is necessary for those high altitudes trekking.
.Suppliers: To make your trekking easier, carry only what you needed. Left the unnecessary heavy luggage’s to avoid difficulties. Make sure you are carrying the required supplements required for you only.
. Required permits: You will face several police checkpoints; park officers can check your permit at any time. So get sure you carry all your necessary documents and required permits to avoid disturbance and trouble and never try to discuss with them.
. Trekking guides: As you are going to experience all these for the first time, you need qualified and experienced climbing guides for trekking to insure better experience. So whatever you tend to do first consult and follow your climbing guide instructions.
. Responsible Trekking: You must follow all the instructions carefully. You should maintain well discipline in team for better cooperation. Don’t throw the waste materials haphazardly.
. Be Vegetarian: As because of no-killing policy in Sagarmatha National Park, you won’t get fresh non-veg. food items, if you do get it might be days junk and older. So for stable, safe and good health, eat the local vegetarian foods (rice with paddy soup) which are high source of protein and energy. As they local have a saying; ‘Daal Vaat Power, remain 24 hour’’.
