Nepal is one of the most popular trekking destinations in the world. Nepal Trekking Season generally is known best during two seasons, after falls and after the winter. Trekking can be commenced at any time of the year. Each season offers distinct attraction. However there are two major aspects that you rely on when you decide to go to Nepal considering crowds and weather. The better the weather, the more people visit Nepal to go for trekking. The following month from September to mid of December is considered ever best season of trekking in Himalayas. During this time the days have pleasant climate condition not so hot and cold and visibility of mountain are crystal clear. This time is also known as tourist season in September and November, flights and hotels are fully booked and hotels and trails in the hills are awfully busy. Such times lie after falls and after the winter. There is another best season of trekking Nepal after winter when sun getting warmer in spring time trekkers to Himalayas can again enjoy comfortable climate condition. In spring season in Nepal many different types of flowers bloom both trees and ground and it is also the best time to climb up peaks for expedition. There are four seasons in Nepal. Each season have own distinct attraction to offer. The Nepal trekking season is classified as follows:
1. AUTUMN (Sept – Nov): This Autumn season is considered the best time for trekking in Nepal, which offers excellent weather and tantalizing mountain views. Moderate temperatures, clear sky with outstanding views, making it a great time to do any of our trek. Occasional short storms may dump snow at high altitudes. 2. WINTER (Dec – Feb): This season is noted for occasional snowfall at higher elevations in Himalayas. Though it gets colder in night, often it offers the clear day / blue sky and relatively less trekkers on the trail. However, we need to be selective in choosing the winter trekking as climbing and crossing high passes trip won’t be an ideal option. Trek like Everest base camp, Annapurna Panorama, Annapurna Dhaulagiri, Annapurna Sanctuary, Instant Everest treks etc can be done even in winter.
3. Spring (March – May): Different varieties of wild flowers, specially the rhododendrons make the hillside a haunting paradise and the days are longer during this spring season. It is mildly warm at lower elevations and at higher elevation the mountain panorama is majestic and temperature is quite moderate.
4. Summer (Jun-Aug): Summer time from June till mid September makes travel wet and warm. These times are blessed for the keen botanist as the higher valleys and meadows blossom with wide range of flora and fauna and lush vegetation.
In brief, the most popular times with optimal trekking experiences are two peak seasons. The first peak season of the year is between late February – March – April (spring) and the second peak season of the year is between late September – October – November (autumn).Nepal trekking offers unexplainable and lifetime accomplishments during these seasons in Himalayas.
