Expedition Everest

Everest was formed by the movement of Indian tectonic plate pushing up and against the Asian plate. Before 450 million years ago the summit of the Mount Everest was once the part of sedimentary layer below the sea level. Mount Everest is formed by the different shale, limestone and marbles. Though it was sedimentary layer, by the scientific research it is said that utterly Mount Everest was formed before 60 million years ago. The official height of Mount Everest is 8,848m (29,029ft) and on present era Everest is the highest peak of the world. The identification of highest peak of the world was on 1841 AD and it was officially named in English as Mount Everest by Royal Geographical Society in 1865 AD, upon the recommendation of British surveyor. This peak is named as Sagarmatha by Nepalese people, which stands as the goddess of sky and Chomolungma by Tibetan which stands for goddess of universe.

There are four camps on the different elevation of the Everest. Base camp on the height of on the height of 5,400m/ 17,700ft, Base camp1 on the height of 6,100m/ 20,000ft, Base camp2 on the height of 6,800m/ 22,300ft, Base camp3 on the height of 7,300m/23,900ft, Base camp4 on the height of 8,000m/26000ft and finally summit at 8,848m/ 29,029ft. Base camp at the height of 5400m/17700ft contains the place to stay journalist, families, exchanging news between mountain climber and the world etc where you handle the latest tech gear. Base camp is a place of hope, fear and lifelong friendships. After the journey towards base camp1 the place is like huge horror dangerous ice park. This is the very scary expedition the ice may fall on you or may collapse. Be sure to always climb into the ropes and be sure about your shoes screw on right way and climb on easy, slowly and carefully. The climber climbs 5-8 hours if not acclimatized and 3-5 hours after acclimatization. Basecamp1 is also known as the valley of silence. This is the vast flat area of endless snow and mountain walls. At this base camp1 we can listen the deep murmuring, cracking sounds under our tents. At least just now when you are in it, pounding headache tortures you. And climbing to this area to the fixed ropes, you could remove the crampons on this climb. Sometimes, weathers can turn on difficult one due to deep snow and whiteout. So, always start out in good time. Stay away from walls, they avalanche frequently. The climber climbs 4 to 7 hours while they are not acclimatized and 3 to 5 hours after acclimatization. After the endless, slow march through the silent valley you reach to a rocky patch at the foot of the icy Lhotse wall. This marks as a base camp2. This place is really stunting. Clouds roll in from the lower range of Himalayas, up to the valley into the camps. While acclimatizing we spend time looking after the climbing gears. This is also a last chance to get a prepared decent meal. Don’t camp too close to Everest face, since it avalanches once in a while. Hang around camp and bring yourself to take walks to the Lhotse face. It will speed the acclimatization and decrease altitude problems. Walk force you to breathe deeper and faster, saturating your body with more oxygen.  After the base camp3 that’s not the place to play, the dangerous part of that place is to hang on the rope of dubious strength and to change the carabineers between the ropes. The view is grand and you are on way to summit. The climb towards the wall is a flat walk that also gets you nicely warmed up after some time you reach to the bumpy par. After that it’s pretty and uneventful. This part is steep but after the nose above its edge you are entering to the land of sprits. The climbers climbs 5 to 8 hours while not acclimatized and 4 to 6 hours after acclimatized. You are on the edge of the atmosphere edge the sky comes strange and turns into dark blue. The scary darkness and coldness there is a real risk. Get your axe ready and prepare the hot Tonics. Take it easy and while the weather and times comes on right place stay claim and think fear is always worse than reality. Finally the time comes to put the final gear and step out in the night. There in a distance we can see a worm of light slowly moving up a dark wall. Its climbers heat torch moving to the summit. It’s completely silent if you talk and if you whisper. It’s really terrifying and it’s desperately too cold. A cold moon rises below you. You notice the blue thin beam of light of horizon. You are luck along with the warm sunlight it makes you better to go on. Changing the numerous of oxygen bottles you reach to the summit. On average it takes 7 to 9 weeks of time to complete the entire expedition.

The first person to reach on the top of the summit was Sir Edmund Hillary from New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa from Nepal on May 19, 1953 AD. The first lady to reach the summit of Mount Everest was Junko Tabei from Japan in 1975 AD. Till now the youngest boy to summit Everest is Jordan Romero from America, age of 13 years 10 months on May 13, 2010 AD and the youngest girl to climb up the Everest is Malavath Poorna, age of 13 years 11 months on May 25, 2015 AD. Everest Altitude and Temperature

Everest is a part of Himalayan mountain range along the border of Nepal and Tibet. Its located 27° 59’ North latitude 86° 55’ East longitude. The official height of Everest is 8,848m (29,029ft). Sifting tectonic plates continue to push Everest upward along with the all Himalayan mountain range at 1.6 to 3.9 inches (4 to 10 cm per year). In 1841, Sir George Everest, Surveyor General of India first recorded the location of Everest and it was named peak XV at that time. In 1865, it was renamed Mount Everest to honor Sir George as English name. Mount Everest is also known as Sagarmatha in Nepali Language which refers as goddess of sky and Chomolungma in Tibetan language which refers as goddess of universe. Mount Everest is formed by the different limestone, Shale and marbles. The first person to climb Mount Everest was Edmund Hillary from New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa from Nepal in May 29, 1953AD and Junko Tabei was the first to climb up the Everest on 16 May, 1975 AD.

One of the most challenging factors is high altitude. As the climbers climbs up and increase the elevation the percentage of oxygen decreases and lower air pressure in atmosphere which makes climber uneasy to breath and effects to the lungs, kidney and brain. It starts normal symptoms above 4000m high altitude if you are getting altitude sickness like Hyperventilation (extra breathing), increased urination, restless sleep and periodic breathing at night. Periodic breathing occurs at night you fell that you have missed a breath. On the point of (9,800ft) there is only 2/3 of oxygen. On (20,000ft) there is roughly half and at the high summit of the Everest (29,029) there is only 1/3 of oxygen. At the high point of altitude, high altitude sicknesses are normally dehydration, flu and fatigue and Headache, vomiting, coughing pink, tightness of chest, shortness of breath, discoloration of skin, resting heart beat rate etc. At this situation the climber should immediately taken down to the lower elevation to decrease the altitude sickness. Most of them also can cause from frostbite and this usually occurs on the hand and feet sometime on the ear and nose also due to over cold. The tissue turns white and you lose the felling on that area after it turns into black and finally falls up. So, before that harms you can apply the safety measures and keep it warm as much as you can and use some medicines along decrease the elevation. You should wear your glass without any careless because you may also get caught from snow blindness. Some climbers don’t want to go down, but at that time it’s beneficial to stay at the lower elevation for the body. The Climber should take the proper pack of the required medicine treatments. The mostly used medicine for the attitude sickness is Diamox and do not use sleeping pill it is very dangerous at the high altitude. The all required oxygen bottles and all the required things should also be prepared perfectly. The best thing to remember, to be less cause from this sickness just climb the best rate of Acclimatization is to gain no more than 300m. Drinking alcohol and coffee on the high is just a bad idea and make you much worse than that you might have expected. These all are mainly caused by the low temperature and high altitude. To say about the temperature and weathers is one of the extremes. Temperature at the summit is near freezing during January temperature can drop as -60° Celsius (-76° Fahrenheit). Another biggest thing for the climbers despite temperature is hurricane force winds and wind chill. This wind relaxes at the month of May and most climbers try to summit the peak at that time. The temperature at the Everest base camp also have average of (-17° Celsius) at the time of Everest summit and at the normal time the summits remains (-37° Celsius). Temperature warms rapidly at the spring month of April. There also you can found the weather and temperature forecasting before climbing to the Everest. The adjusted wind chill temperature of -70° Celsius is observes on the summit comparing to the worlds coldest place of -67.8° Celsius in Siberia and -89° Celsius measured at Vostok in Antarctica. Summit of the Everest is one of the windiest and coldest places of the earth. The winds blow at 175 mph+ on the top (category 5 hurricane equivalent).

Winter weather at Everest (Nob to Feb) is dominated by the southward migration of the northern hemisphere jet stream which brings high winds cold temperature and Heavy snowfall. Winter can be the time for only trekkers not for the climbers. Spring weather March until to the unset of the monsoon is one of the best time to trek and most of the people are also on the way to climb on this time. Monsoon season (June to September) summer weather this time is not best for trekking and climbing due to the frequent rain and cloudy day.
