Thorong La pass trekking is known as one of the most popular trekking in the world because of its geological and cultural diversity. It is regarded as one of the great and challenging trekking passes in Annapurna circuit. The pass is located on the trail which connects the village of Manang and its district to the east, with Muktinath temple and village of Ranipauwa in the Mustang district to the west. Thorong la pass trekking starts from Besisahar but at present direct trip via bus is also possible from Kathmandu to Khudi and continue Thorong la pass from Khudi. With wide variety of Himalaya sceneries, it’s also the powerhouse of variety of flora and fauna.
Thorong la pass is known as highest point on Annapurna circuit with an elevation of 5416meters and which is nearly a 300km route around the Annapurna mountain range. After Manang permitted the pass in 1980 then the Thorong la pass was opened for the trekkers. With variety of Himalayan sceneries, panorama of highest mountain Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Manaslu, Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Nilgiri, Mt. Machhapuchhare and many more other mountain peaks as well as diversities of cultures, flora and fauna all these allocates, recommends, attracts and make worthy necessary visit and trek once in a lifetime for the adventurers and nature lovers. The one with normal climbing experience, physically fit and healthy are eligible for this majestic trek. The adventure exposes from bamboo forests to breathe-taking high mountain landscapes and topography. Thorong la pass trek begins from low land altitude as it is the appropriate way for proper acclimatization to make our body fitness, energetic and ready for conquering the higher altitude. The appropriate time for this trek is from autumn season (Sep-Dec) and spring season (Feb.-May).
