Trip Introduction

One of the most beautiful mountains in the world, Ama Dablam, sometimes referred to as the Matterhorn of the Himalayas, is situated in the Himalayan range in Eastern Nepal. Ama Dablam distinguishes itself by having a distinct pyramid form. The name "Ama Dablam" comes from the hanging glacier on the southwest face of Ama Dablam, which resembles the holy adornment box used by Sherpa women and is called Dablam. This mountain is elevated 6,812 meters above sea level. This mountain is remarkable not because of its height but rather because of its beauty. Situated south of Mount Everest in Nepal's Khumbu area lies Mt. Ama Dablam. While climbing to the summit, one should be treated to some breathtaking vistas.

Typically, one ascends Ama Dablam from the Southwest Ridge. The climbers who made their first ascent to the summit in 1961 took the same path. Climbers often establish three camps directly below and to the right of the "Dablam" hanging glacier. The climb is easy until you reach Camp 1, but it becomes more difficult as you go over the narrow granite ridge edges to Camp 2. Between Camps 2 and 3, this challenge becomes considerably more difficult. Before considering Ama Dablam, one needs to practice rock and ice climbing techniques and acclimate to high elevations. The Ama Dablam Expedition is for you if you have climbing expertise and would want to go with a group to the most amazing peak in the world.

Physical Condition and requirement

Walking at higher altitudes is more physically demanding than walking at lower altitudes, however, if we are in excellent health with average physical fitness, have a positive attitude, self-confidence, and strong determination, we can accomplish the trek successfully. Exercising and jogging regularly for some weeks prior to the trip is a good idea to enhance our strength and stability. Past hiking experience would be an asset but no technical skill is required for this trip. It is important that we consult with our doctor before we decide and set up the Everest Base camp trek. Participants with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung, and blood diseases should inform Treks Planner Nepal before booking the trek.

Additional info

NOTE: Summit bonus (500$ to each sherpa) must be paid by clients once they leave for the summit from camp2. However, if they fail to summit clients must pay a summit bonus. Our services will start once they reach Ama dablam base camp.
