Trip Introduction

Lobuche East and Island Peak Expedition combine ascending peaks in the Everest Region. This itinerary ensures you acclimatize gradually whilst trekking up the Khumbu Valley to Everest base camp and gradually progressing before reaching the summit of Lobuche East Peak and Island Peak. Both the peaks are of a semi-technical nature. Lobuche East Peak 6119M is one of the most popular 6,000M climbing peaks in Nepal. Everest summit teams mostly use the Lobuche East peak as one of the training peaks before attempting the summit.

Island Peak 6189M is another popular 6,000M+ climbing peak in Nepal. The peak is an extension of the ridge coming down off the south end of Lhotse Shar. Imja Tse is a popular mountaineering objective for climbers in Nepal.

Physical Condition and requirement

Walking in higher altitudes is more physically demanding than walking in the lower altitudes, however, if we are in excellent health with average physical fitness, have a positive attitude, self confidence and strong determination, we can accomplish the trek successfully. Exercising and jogging regularly for some weeks prior to the trip is good idea to enhance our strength and stability. Past hiking experience would be an asset but no technical skill is required for this trip. It is important that we consult with our doctor before we decide and set up for the Island Peak. Participants with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung, and blood diseases should inform Treks Planner Nepal before booking the trek.
